Re: The Brink [of Madness] Act 1, Scene 1

Tucking the light-coin into a deep pocket Jack sets the lantern down near the top of the spiral stairs. He strains to hear any sounds from below and if all is quiet he will begin his examination of the staircase. Checking the treads and risers for any pressure plates or possible moving pieces that c...

Re: The Brink [of Madness] Act 1, Scene 1

"Are the fellows down the hole tied off?" Jag mentally communicates. Jack tentatively sends thoughts directly from his brain. He’s happy not to be encumbered by a rope while he explores but would be very grateful if one could be left dangling should he have to make a swift exit. Shining t...

Re: The Brink [of Madness] Act 1, Scene 1

Jack, hearing the others still crashing about above, worries that the party is splintering before we’ve even started. This place is dangerous from what he was told. OOC - Maybe we should all focus in one direction?

Re: The Brink [of Madness] Act 1, Scene 1

Holding his lantern high in one hand he scrapes away some of the bones beneath his booted feet, trying to gauge the depth and see what lays beneath. Are the bones pretty much intact skeletons? Are there any hints as to how they died? The humanoids in the wall paintings, are they of a recognisable sp...

Re: The Brink [of Madness] Act 1, Scene 1

Jack checks the opening for triggers or trip wires then if all looks clear and with his burglars lantern in one hand drops the short distance onto the bone strewn floor. (Oops. Following the shrunken Firbolg.)

Re: The Brink [of Madness] Act 1, Scene 1

Jack slips from the shadows towards the closest hatch (a). Having already checked for traps he cautiously tries to open the strange snake shaped portal. Twisting, pushing or sliding in several directions; all the time ready to dive away from danger.

Re: The Brink [of Madness] Act 1, Scene 1

Somewhere deep within a dark hood an eyebrow is raised slightly.
Jack slips into a shadowy corner to watch the proceedings until he’s needed again.

Re: The Brink [of Madness] Act 1, Scene 1

======================================================================== (OOC: Is it save to assume that working the levers improperly causes the poison to come out of the pinhole?) [Ooc] There are no 'levers'. There are handles the hatches in the floor, like a pot lid if it had a handle that stuck...

Re: The Brink [of Madness] Act 1, Scene 1

Jack is unsure about letting the monsters prod and poke the trap. “What if it spews out enough… gas say to fill the chamber up over our heads? I’m happy to investigate further if you think it will help?”

Re: The Brink [of Madness] Act 1, Scene 1

Jack flits around the perimeter of the snaky chamber, taking full advantage of any shadows for cover and padding on nearly silent feet. He’s looking for exits or anything that piques his curiosity. He will not touch anything until he has investigated it first.

Jack shrugs, relieved that no one is dying…just yet…
He hops on the chain and lowers himself down.

Re: The Brink [of Madness] Act 1, Scene 1

Jack does a rapid calculation of how much damage an Ogre zombie would do falling 300’ onto a giant snake….

Turning to whoever controls the beast he suggests telling it to take a dive. “I’ll find you a new one.”
