Re: LSO OOC Thread II
I just viewed her as coming from "the sticks" somewhere..
So Narin would be like London was for Dick Whittington

Re: LSO OOC Thread II
A village, in the sticks or wherever, is 500 people or less.
A town is between 1,000-5,000 people. Narin is a very small town. Haven, in my WotL game, is a large town (but they fancy themselves a big city).
A city can have up to 50,000 people. Like Paradise City, the capital of Vaneil.

Re: LSO OOC Thread II
Ok, I was thinking of a village as 100-150, being large compared to a hamlet, maybe 15-45.
But ok, thanks Jaded.
The situation (with the Slaad) feels quite dodgy.
Especially with a powerful wizard hovering overhead!

Re: LSO OOC Thread II
Nasty beast! - I meant the slaad, of course.
Why were the slaad's claw attacks at -2 to hit? And would this have applied to its bite too?
Also, Naras's damage range was 1d8+1 (which is 1H weapon use). If so, would her AC benefit from the +1 shield ?
Are these right:
lightly wounded = 90% HP
moderately wounded = 66% HP ?? (or actually 75% ?)
seriously wounded = ?50% HP?

Slashing attacks suffer a -2 penalty against banded mail. Piercing attacks do not.Chris1234 wrote:Why were the slaad's claw attacks at -2 to hit? And would this have applied to its bite too?
I can go back and add the bonus for the shield, if you want, but it won't change anything that happened last round.Chris1234 wrote:If so, would her AC benefit from the +1 shield ?

Re: LSO OOC Thread II
Thanks for the info!
It's fine, I just wanted to establish that she hadn't done something stupid like left it on the ship and then I'd forgotten the fact.
And, if using a shield, a spear can't be used two-handed, correct?
Was playing with the numbers just now:
If the slaad took 4HP dam, putting it to Lightly Wounded (76-99%) and then regenerated 2HP (for down by 2HP) to put it at not Lightly Wounded, then would that mean 2HP = 1%, so it has minimum of 200HP ??
That gave me a nasty moment.
But then looking a bit further:
2+1+18=21HP dam total, puts it at seriously wounded, where it remains despite a further 2HP regenerated, so that predicts something in the range 29-38 HP is slightly less unnerving.
Nailbiter!

Re: LSO OOC Thread II
50 pages of OOC thread. Welp, time to call in the recovery team.
Also, one for Naras.
Sorry to say it, but if that thing has 100 or more hp, you're gonna need a -miracle-
Or the Son of Crizza to not be a bad and help you out.
Alright, doing the math comes to:
Slaad.
HP 43
HD 7+3
7,8,8,2,7,2,6,+3
How I figured this out?
Reverse the damage dealt and hp regenerated while keeping within the damage range percentages.
The minimum hp this can have is 43. 42 would mean it would have been dead in this last round.
Was I close Jaded?

Re: LSO OOC Thread II
Thanks, that's not as gruesome as I first thought it was.
I think you deserve a gold star.

Re: LSO OOC Thread II
It's not guaranteed, but it has to have a minimum of 43 hp. Jaded seems to be gone right now, so little progression.

Re: LSO OOC Thread II
What do you reckon its max is?
As an afterthought, if the slaad's got about 45HP, then that's 10HD on average, so if the genasai regards the red slaad as "easy" then he must be hard as nails.
Also, I couldn't figure out why the Prot Evil went down - 3 thought: the genasai dispelled it (by not likely as Jaded put NA on its action, I know, metagame, but hey,) second magic resistance from the slaad (if it has any that is) or Naras setting a spear to receive charge could have counted as melee due to longer reach.. Can't quite figure this one out, cos if the Prot Evil was in effect, I'd have thought it couldn't reach Naras therefore no charge to receive..

Re: LSO OOC Thread II
No, the thing has 43. Reason why I say this is:
Red Slaad is 7+3HD.
I forgot how much a Hit Dice is worth, but if it was a d12, he'd have 87 hp. If it was a d1, it'd be 10hp.

Re: LSO OOC Thread II
Usually creature HD are d8 (assuming no levels and not ridiculously tiny), so 2HD = 9HP on average.
