So if I were looking at Essence of Darkness, I need 500 gp, to afford it?

So the magic item thing is a little tricky. Essence of darkness is allowed and listed in the Thieves Handbook for 300xp. I might have listed the xp value wrong somewhere.

You get 500xp to spend on a magic item (but only on one type of thing). You could spend 300xp for it, then get 25gp back for each 100 xp not used (or in your case, steel pieces since you're from Krynn).

If you opt for this iem, you can go ahead and roll for #of doses (1d4+4 I think).

The Essence costs 300. That means I get an extra 50 to spend on starting equipment?
I need lots to spend on trinkets Pyros has picked up in his travels!

HP Rolls
http://invisiblecastle.com/roller/view/4865757/
Max 6 For first level
1d6 → [2] = (2)
1d6 → [3] = (3)
1d6 → [5] = (5)

Total of 16 HP

Yep, 50 extra steel/gold for you. Good hps for a rogue :)
don't forget to choose age/wt and roll for ht. If you're not sure of the ranges I can provide them for you, but I think they're in the book.

Feel free to pick up trinkets if you want. I always give my kender chars cargo-pants. I do use the kender-pockets ability and maintain a customized table. If you buy trinkets, they will stay part of your permanent inventory, but the table is somewhat random.

3 steel pcs.
All other stats same as staff-sling except damage is +1 for the sling part, and based on ammo type (sling bullet does 1d4+2/1d6+2, etc)
Can be thrown as javelin or stabbed with as javelin (use jav dmg and speed but it is still a Large wep)
Can be used like a large club.

Looks good. I'll work on getting the stat block set up on your private thread. A couple of clarifications first:
-Which terrain type do you want the survival proficiency to apply to
-Do you want the wine and waterskins fillled? (They'll weigh about 5 lbs each full)
-Did you want any armor?
-did you intend 2 or 4 daggers
-as a note the exchange rates will be 1 steel=10 silver= 100 copper. Since you broke each coin out by type it won't really matter for the initial equipment buy
-do you have a certain way you want the weapons/eq stored or arranged?

- Steppe
- he will keep them half full each, he doesn't have the room for the extra pounds
- No I don't take this Kender to like armour, even leather
- 2 daggers@ 2 gold for the 4 gold
