You may have a wide array of experience in gaming both from a DMs and Players standpoint, but to say that someone is wrong just because you've never seen a problem with the system is frankly insulting. Well I certainly never meant to be insulting IL. Remember that this is a place for feedback. And ...

You do realize that for the most part you simply restated CKs viewpoint on Good and Evil. The main difference is your views of evil where his definition centers on selfishness and callousness toward others, yours focuses on self-interest (Selfishess) and gain or profit in general rather than self-g...

Hello. I'm playing a Ranger, my first ever character, I chose a Ranger because I like the outdoors, and it seemed to fit with me. When the Dungeon Master said I had to be good I thought it was a little funny! Why play a Hero that isn't good? What's the fun in that? Aren't these characters supposed ...

In the end, Alignment was meant to be an RPing aid. Because people generally act in consistent ways. After the age of around 16, I am going tofollow a bseic set of rules, a basic set of behavior. I have a personality, I have a way of thinking, and a way of doing. I could likely ascribe some alignmen...

Alignment is subjective, even in 2ed it seems, I was thinking about Die Hard for some reason, that the actions performed by John McLane could (and are in the book) considered not that actions of a Hero, he does things that most "Good" people would consider well... "Evil". Certai...

And what, pray tell, stat would that be, Tiger? The above statement is a nice 'gamer' insult, but an insult none the less. Keep a civil tongue. What are you talk about insult? Who did I insult IL, everyone and myself? There are stat requirements (in 2E at least, and I thought in 3E as well) that ar...

And just read the 4th rules... Gut reaction, didn't like them, sorry for bashing. Don't apologize, there is nothing to apologize for. We were not "bashing" anything about 4th edition. 4th Edition's alignment rules are DIFFERENT, and certainly more flexible. There are so many different cla...

I both agree and disagree. I agree that this SHOULD be an RP element, at least in idea. However, this game takes some things and takes them to the dice. Whether or not you hit, save, or make a check. All of those COULD be RPed... but then it becomes a story, not a game. The game, that randomness kee...

See, I have a problem with that. Rangers gain very specific bonuses, very powerful bonuses that fighters don't. Those benefits come at a cost of restricted alignment and play. When you disregard that alignment requirement you make Rangers just as free as fighters, but better in several ways. And to ...

I actually like this idea a lot. And there is precedence for it. The game already has mechanics in effect for this with Dragons via dragon fear. Why shouldn't that apply in a lesser form to the other horrors of the world? How many real people do YOU know who wouldn't have a violent emotional reactio...

Actually, I think thats not a bad way to do it NW. And sometimes as the DM, I will guide the last few players to get into a party towards needed roles. It has worked out pretty well. My friends and I have devised a system that I think would be cool. The group decides for you. No rolls, no nothing. T...

I prefer to think of an idea first. But that said, I have had the rolls change what I was going to do, or tweak a gimmick. Often times inspiration comes from a good book, movie, or having seen someone else play. Maybe from an NPC I saw a DM do. Just depends.

Was and probably always will be Kiiro Al'Ammon. A fighter from an Egyption-esque land known as "Scheherezade". He was a specialist in the Bastard sword who moved on to become a Grand Master. I played him 2-3 times a week of session lasting anywhere from 4-16 hour sessions. I can say withou...

I think a pretty basic first place to start is a pantheon structure. Just the decision, are we open, or closed. If we are open, there is always the possibility of new gods or demigods that are discovered from other continents, or new cultures as they are added... or a new ascension. If it is closed,...

I think this is great as well, a giant co-op realm build. I also think one of the best ways to do this would be a wiki. Its something we can all edit and help mold. Anymore if you can use microsoft word you can use a wiki, because the interfaces are so similar. The only tricky part would be a map. T...
