Re: What PC level for +3 or +4 items??

My level breakdowns would typically be as such: Levels 1-3 - No magical items. Levels 4-6 - 1x +1 Magical Item. Levels 7-10 - 1x +1 Magical Item, 1x +2 Magical Item. Levels 11-13 - 2x +1 Magical Item, 1x +2 Magical Item. Levels 14-15 - 2x +1 Magical Item, 1x +2 Magical Item, 1x +3 Magical Items Leve...

Re: 1 or 2e.. # of arrows (or javelins) per quiver?

I also like to turn things on their head a little bit. Just last session my players (group of 4: Barbarian, Wizard, Thief, Warlock) were camping in the desert. Saw a fire way way off in the distance. The thief went to scout it out and found that there were 12 bandits and a bandit leader lounging aro...

Re: 1 or 2e.. # of arrows (or javelins) per quiver?

It's funny - in all these decades of gaming, almost all of my players have worried about rations and finding food even if they could cast create food and drink or spells like that. Or had spoons of Murlynd . Oh, they would use that when they realized they were getting exhausted and starved. But the...

Re: 1 or 2e.. # of arrows (or javelins) per quiver?

I see what you're saying. But keep in mind, the Native Americans endured harsh conditions at times subsisting on nothing but rations like pemmican. The Incas would run literally all day in the high, oxygen-depleted mountains while consuming nothing more than a handful of chia seeds. And remember, t...

Re: 1 or 2e.. # of arrows (or javelins) per quiver?

Quite a few actually, if you know what to pack. Chia seed, pemmican or jerky, etc. Lasts forever, doesn't spoil, takes little space, and is nutrient dense. I'd say easily a month's worth, without adding much bulk. Yes and no. The caloric requirements for meaningful overland travel are pretty extrem...

Re: 1 or 2e.. # of arrows (or javelins) per quiver?

@RPGDinosaur - Its true that I can be a little hard on them about that. Of course they will occasionally find arrows too. And any character that wants to can try to become proficient with the fletching skill. This might allow them to recover some arrows - salvage them and repair them basically. Occa...

Re: When D&D lost its soul

That's such a pet peeve of mine - when people laugh off something they don't agree with, or simply say " that's not true ". If it's not true, show me how I'm wrong . I made the case that proves it, so if you think that I'm wrong, why not show me where I'm wrong? It always makes me think o...

Re: When D&D lost its soul

Thankfully, that is starting to change now. (In regards to more women in D&D). I too am very excited about this. I think the gender inclusivity might be the best part of the changes. As a father to a daughter, and husband to a wife I am excited about the prospect of playing this as a family. Th...

Re: When D&D lost its soul

That's not my opinion, it is an objective fact This made me lol. Jaded - I have agreed with everything you said here. There is a lot of grognardiness (this is a word not) going on here. Halaster may not have a neck beard and be furiously typing away - but he comes off that way. (Not an insult, Hala...

Was that sarcastic? I couldn't tell. Your "..." made it seem like you were being sarcastic.

Re: When D&D lost its soul

My understanding is that the Stat Blocks are the focus because they are what is NEEDED to play. They talk about -at length- that it is up to the Dungeon Master to flesh out the delicious background. Though for select creatures that is added in as well. This actually encourages MORE work, and MORE st...

Re: 1 or 2e.. # of arrows (or javelins) per quiver?

Tiger, just out of curiosity what made you change your mind? For me it was actually handling a bow and arrows. Getting a feel for what wooden arrows, with fragile fletchings and their requisite packing would require in terms of space, as well as what that would do to a pack, etc. Once I saw that, I...

Re: 1 or 2e.. # of arrows (or javelins) per quiver?

10-12 would be the max per quiver I would allow.

I used to think 20-30 was fine, but no longer.

I don't know that its that an LCD will work better so much as that it will work the same, last longer, and be more reliable. https://www.walmart.com/ip/VIZIO-43-Class-FHD-1080P-Smart-Full-Array-LED-TV-D43-D2/48194200 Vizio smart TV. $298. 43'.
