Re: What is the worst thing that can happen to a character?

Lol. In my world there is an organization called the Black Tower. The Black tower fights all extra-worldly threats and/or Elder powers. If they suspect that Eldritch or Elder madness has infected a person's mind, they will destroy their body, consolidate their soul, and feed it into a higher-level v...

Re: Toughest opponent ever faced?

Interesting question. Hard to answer. As far as toughest ever single NPC? Probably a custom NPC who was a 20th level Fighter/20th Level Psionicist named Janos Folken. Folken was a whole party villain, and was the last in a line of a family which had been possessed by an ancient Amber Dragon. The dra...

Re: When a spell says "Concentration" what else can they do?

This is a great question - and I think it is one of the greatest weaknesses of the earlier editions. I like the way that 5th edition has summed it up: CONCENTRATION Some spells require you to maintain concentration in order to keep their magic active. If you lose concentration, such a spell ends. If...

Re: Massive DVD collection

No, not really. I have since bought some of them in digital format (across whatever platform I happen to be using). Honestly I found they just sat there. There were some DVD's I hadn't watched in probably 2-3 years when I finally got rid of them. Maybe longer. Just didn't seem worth the effort once ...

Re: Massive DVD collection

I did at one time, though not that large. I think I had over 120. I transitioned to Blu Ray when it came out, had another 60 or so of those (though some replaced my old DVD's). Saw the writing on the wall however, that everything would be digitally stored eventually. Made a sucker's deal with my wif...

Rogue One - A Star Wars Story - SPOILERS INSIDE!

Oh man - I really really liked this movie. This was what the prequels should have been like. I only had 2-3 small issues, mostly procedural, and none of them took away from the movie as a whole. The ending was great. Loved the Vader sequence and I am glad they included it. Really helped sell him - a...

Re: Index cards, what best to hold a group??

I think your best bet is to make a template for yourself in Paint or Excel. That lets you print them out (multiple to a page) with clear type (rather than handwriting). Then grab one of these: https://www.amazon.com/AmazonBasics-PL9-US-Thermal-Laminator/dp/B00BUI5QWS (Laminator) Laminate, punch a ho...

Re: Stopped by to get some ideas

I am a sad panda that I can't make it to that 24 hour session. I know most of the RPers that are going to be in it - and let me tell you it is a STELLAR group.

But alas, work :(

Welcome Spike! Annother Illinoisan on the board. Well met. I am down in Peoria. Halaster is also local, and I believe closer to you.

If you're ever in Champaign, Peoria, or Springfield visit Titan Games, those are the stores I co-own :)

Re: What other hobbies do you guys have?

Very appropriate that a guy named Spike practices Jeet Kune Do. I studied JKD for almost a year in College, but transitioned to Choy Li Fut after residency. Got about 2.5 years in before I had to move. Haven't picked it up since (about a year ago). Really want too, but just haven't had the time (had...

Re: What other hobbies do you guys have?

Well, despite not being classified as a hobby my wife and two children make up the majority of my time. I also do a lot of the paperwork, filing, and financial work for Titan Games in Champaign, Peoria, and Springfield IL. I am co-owner in the corporation that owns the stores. I read a lot. Mostly m...

Re: So, what can YOU do?

This is very interesting. And not as far fetched as you might think. There have been more than one super-flu epidemics. All it takes is one nasty virus and this could be the world we live in. What can I do? I'm a physician - I can diagnose and treat most common life-threatening conditions, and I am ...
