Music Game - Totally off topic
Music Game - Totally off topic
I started this on FB, but I figure why not do it here, too?
There was a radio station in Boston years ago that had a game where they played three songs and listeners had to call in and identify the common thread. A station in NYC also did something similar in the 2000s.
I haven't heard anyone doing anything similar, lately, so I figured why not do it here?
I'll start it off with an easy one. So what do these three songs have in common?:
Superman by The Kinks

Who Are You by The Who

Do You Feel Like We Do by Peter Frampton

Here in the Pacific Northwest there is a classic rock station, KZOK, that was doing the contest up until about five years or so ago. They actually narrowed what the common thread could always be down to one of three possibilities: subject matter of the song, something all three performers have in common and one other one I can't remember.
As far as your contest, I think I have a handle on it: all three performers are from England.

As soon as I get home I'll post an answer. I'm almost willing to guess now, but I'm not to familiar with one of these songs.

While all three performers are from England, that is not the answer I was looking for.RPG Dinosaur wrote:Here in the Pacific Northwest there is a classic rock station, KZOK, that was doing the contest up until about five years or so ago. True, but not the answer I am looking for.

Okay. Apparently this one was too tough.
The common thread was that in all three songs, the verse starts with "woke uo"
"Woke up this morning, what did I see?"
"I woke up in a SoHo doorway"
"Woke up this morning, with a wine glass in my hand"

Re: Music Game - Totally off topic
Yeah, I figured the answer had to come by listening to all three songs, but I just couldn't bring myself to listen to all thirteen minutes of Frampton's "Do You Feel Like We Do" for the 100th time in my life. Great song, but I JUST, COULDN'T, DO, IT!! Maybe in another five, ten years I can start enjoying that song again.

meh, I don't like music, I don't know if its musical anhedonia or amusia, but I steer away from it...
Every minute is a year of struggle
Re: Music Game - Totally off topic
That's truly sad NH. Music is one of the only things ALL humans can have in common and not fight about. It is one of the few things in life that can stop all humans in their tracks to have common experience. It fills the soul with goodness

Ah, but in this particular case, you'd have only had to listen to the first minute of each song.RPG Dinosaur wrote:Yeah, I figured the answer had to come by listening to all three songs, but I just couldn't bring myself to listen to all thirteen minutes of Frampton's "Do You Feel Like We Do" for the 100th time in my life. BTW - I saw Frampton a few years ago at Jones Beach Theater on Long Island, NY - a friend of mine had won VIP tickets and couldn't attend. Awesome show.

I'm going to put another one of these out there, in case people are interested.
The answer is in the lyrics on this one as well.

Okay, I'll take one crack at this, but I think I only need one. The common thread is that each songs mentions a .44 'piece'.
"staring straight down a .44", "hearbreakers, with your .44", and so on.

Re: Music Game - Totally off topic
And to complete the set: "Black out, heatwave, .44 caliber homicide."
We have a winner!
Now, RPGD, would you like to post one, or should I do another?
